Hand embroidery on raw canvas
Size: 45 X 44
Date: 2011
Defy Death II came out of a complex "sketch" that appeared on my drawing desk after repeatedly tracing the Defy Death I. It was an accumulation of overlapped marks and meanings . I was intriqued by the central figure exposing herself in the middle of a kind of battle zone. I developed the accidental scribble into the Defy Death II embroidery. It was fun to work on.
