These paintings are created by drawing with the sewing machine on the primed unstretched canvas, then painted and stitched in sequence.
I began this series the summer of 2010. This first set is fairly small in scale.
With these pieces I had in mind the creation of "beautiful objects" with the edges being developed and expressive themselves and then the finshing with the stretching of the canvas on individually made stretchers. You can hold some of these pieces in your hand and they are enjoyable and pleasing in weight, thickness and scale as well as visually front, side and even back.
